Kelly’s Ancient Goddess Sister
AMATERASU
This deity of the Japanese Shinto faith—the sun goddess—did not suffer fools. Amaterasu got into a fight with her brother, Susanoo (the god of storms and the sea), when he threw a flayed horse into her weaving hall (as one does). Her reaction: holing up in a cave and bringing an age of darkness onto the world, much like Queen Elsa’s ice storm in Frozen. She eventually came out of the cave and made peace with Susanoo, who offered her a legendary sword as a reconciliation gift. Think of Clarkson’s newest record deal and Meaning of Life as her sword.
